Sharina is a licensed professional counselor with 6 years of experience serving kids, teens, and adults; and both families and couples. She has an interest in research on self-esteem, anxiety, and depression, and has a special interest in helping those struggling with relationship issues.

She is strongly committed to using evidence-based care for individual and family counseling. She is a thought leader, often being called upon for her training skills in professional ethics, implicit bias, and continuous improvement of cultural competency.  

She has expertise integrating SEL (social, emotional learning) for teaching all ages emotion regulation, conflict resolution, and relationship building.

Often called upon as a subject matter expert, Ms. Romero is a lifelong learner assisting organizations to define and implement culturally sensitive guidelines. She is an expert at creating treatment strategies that carefully consider both cultural implications and childhood dynamics that have influenced one’s beliefs and behaviors.

Ms. Romero is a passionate advocate for victims who have been impacted by trauma and aversive events and those in need of substance use treatment. She has expert experience and training having completed the Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) certification program at Chicago University making her an expert in dually diagnosed clients.

Ms. Romero believes people can live meaningful and empowering lives using the skills she teaches. She seeks to educate, encourage, and empower others to focus on strengths, while challenging individuals to call upon their inner strength to persevere, even under the most unfavorable conditions.

Ms. Romero believes self-care is a critical component to effectively be of service to others, so she encourages positive activities. She enjoys and encourages spending time with family and friends, visiting new restaurants, cooking, watching documentaries, going to art galleries and museums, and enjoying time at the spa.
