Grief

When someone passes away, there are so many things that accidentally remind us of them; I have come to call it "grief archaeology"
When I provide grief counseling to workplace groups, people often are vexed by the artifacts left behind that might have special meanings to us, such as their coworkers plant, desk items or chair. Managers have questions such as, "How long until I hire someone to fill their position?" Or, "How long should I wait to clean out their office or work space?" There is no easy answer. Just like in families, we all play a role or type in work groups whether we like it or not, and habit and traits often dictate our actions.
Just know that when a coworker has passed, you might be surprised how deeply you are affected. It may surprise you with questions about your own mortality.
